In her role as Director of Nursing, Clinical Trial Support Center at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Leah Szumita supports The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s efforts to educate and support patients and caregivers affected by blood cancers. Through education, advocacy, coaching and decision-support services, Leah and the team of nurse navigators help patients, their caregivers, and healthcare professionals navigate the process of identifying and participating in clinical trials, and providing support through the continuum of their treatment and care. LLS is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. Its mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Prior to LLS, Leah was a Clinical Nurse Specialist and Clinical Nurse Educator at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. Leah is certified as an Adult Health Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist. Leah graduated from Saint Anselm College with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and obtained her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Massachusetts Boston. She currently resides in Foxboro, MA with her husband and three children.
