Annie Johnson is a Senior Principal Medical Science Director in US Medical Affairs at Genentech and has led two FDA approvals in both SCLC and early NSCLC. She transitioned to this role in 2017 from her previous role as a medical oncology physician assistant and sub-investigator at Stanford Cancer Center & Stanford University Medical Center. She led various leadership roles within the Advanced Practice Council during her tenure there from 2008-2019.
Prior to Stanford, she trained at MD Anderson Molecular Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant Service prior to returning to California to join a community oncology practice serving as a clinician and sub-investigator of UCLA oncology clinical trials under the auspices of Dr. Dennis Slamon’s UCLA research network.
She received a Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Western University School of Health Sciences Osteopathic Medical School in 2004 with focused clinical training in academic molecular hematology.
Early in her career, Annie conducted oncology clinical trials at Mayo Clinic, UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center and Santa Barbara Cottage Children’s Hospital. While working in oncology coordinating clinical trials, she worked towards a Master of Business Administration in Health Care Management, completed in 2000.
Annie has always had an interest in research and started her career as a young scientist at Boys Town National Research Hospital in a molecular genetics laboratory in the early 1990’s. Her career continues to be committed to oncology research and drug development.
