Dr. Damis completed his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Washington State University in 1987. He is a Diplomate with the American Board of Professional Psychology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Health Psychology, the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance, the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and the Florida Society of Clinical Hypnosis. He is a licensed psychologist who holds ASCH Certification in Clinical Hypnosis with Consultant Status. Dr. Damis is the President-Elect of ASCH, Past President of Florida and Washington DC Societies of Clinical Hypnosis, and has taught hypnosis for over 25 years for the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, the Florida Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and the Society of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis. Moreover, he was an instructor for the October 2021 ISSTD Sponsored ASCH Approved Level 1, Fundamentals of Clinical Hypnosis Workshop in Arlington, VA.
Dr. Damis works extensively with developmental trauma and attachment disorders and was recently a Guest Editor for a special issue of the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis on Hypnosis and Trauma. He is an Advisory Editor for the International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis and has conducted research on hypnosis, implicit memory, polyvagal theory, trauma, gut-brain interaction disorders, persistent pain, neuropsychological functioning in medically ill individuals, aging, and psychotherapy process.
Dr. Damis is a Clinical Health Psychologist who established Integrative Health Psychology, PA, in 2003 and specializes in integrating psychophysiological, mind-body, interpersonal, and experiential therapies to promote physical, emotional, and relational wellness. He maintains a private practice along with his work as an instructor, author, and consultant.
