Joyanna Silberg is a past-president of ISSTD and author of The Child Survivor: Healing Developmental Trauma and Dissociation, 2nd edition, May, 2021. She is an expert in childhood dissociation and the evaluation and treatment of child sexual abuse.She received her undergraduate degree from University of Maryland and her Ph. D. from Ohio State University in developmental psychology and clinical child psychology. She received the Cornelia Wilbur award for clinical excellence from ISST-D and the Media Award for her books, The Dissociative Child and The Child Survivor: Healing Developmental Trauma and Dissociation. She recieves the William Friederich Award from the Institute of Viiolence, Abuse & Trauma for her work on assessment and treatment of sexual abuse. Currently, she serves as president of The Leadership Council on Child Abuse & Interpersonal Violence which provides education to the media, courts and the public on the ethical application of psychological science to the welfare of survivors of interpersonal Violence. She has lectured nationally and internationally, including in Israel, Norway, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Estonia, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Argentina, Canada, Scotland, and the UK on her treatment approach to child dissociation and on protecting children's rights in family court. She participated in a grant awarded from the Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women to research the effects of erroneous judicial decisions about trauma and abuse on child welfare. She was past senior consultant for childhood trauma at Sheppard Pratt Health System and served on the psychological evaluation unit, child and adolescent inpatient, outpatient, and intensive day programs. She provides forensic consultation for cases involving childhood trauma.
