David Archer is a father, an anti-racist psychotherapist, an EMDRIA certified EMDR practitioner, a certified Brainspotting therapist, a clinical social worker, a couples and family therapist, and a mindfulness meditator from Montreal, Canada (TiohtiĆ :ke). He is an expert clinician who works in private practice with diverse clinical populations.
Having co-presented the ground-breaking plenary discussion Elephant in the Room: Racism and Psychotherapy, at the 2020 EMDRIA international conference, Archer has since led several anti-racist workshops at both the EMDRIA and ISSTD world conferences, as well as participated in numerous panel discussions and peer supervisions in local community circles. He has years of experience working with a range of clients who suffer from racial trauma, child abuse, anxiety, depressive disorders, relational conflict, addictions, and eating disorders. In addition to extensive work with immigrants and people of diverse racial origins, he spent several years as a counselor in the Indigenous community of Kahnawake, where he cultivated a deeper understanding of culture, community, and the spirit of resilience.
He regularly provides mental health services through virtual conferencing software through his private practice. He provides consulattions to organizations and workshops to small and medium sized businesses that focus on psychotherapeutic services.
Mr. Archer is the developer of an integrative clinical framework called Rhythm and Processing Strategies and an EMDRIA approved consultant for EMDR Therapy. He is also an author of Anti-Racist Psychotherapy: Confronting Systemic Racism and Healing Racial Trauma (amzn.to/3pSBfZX). His next book is scheduled to be published within the next few months and is titled, Racial Trauma Recovery: Healing Our Past Using Rhythm and Processing Strategies. Mr. Archer is an ally of LGBTQ, Black, Indigenous, and oppressed racial groups around the world.
