We live in highly troubled times (mass shootings, continuing COVID, the Ukrainian invasion, politically polarized society, etc.). We therapists, as well as our clients, can hardly ignore the bad news. How do we protect ourselves? How do we keep hope alive instead of sinking in helplessness?
In this didactic and experiential workshop – we will do exercises! - the participants will learn a model of caring self-management based on the Energy States concept. Self-care is i not just to chill and relax or getting a shiatsu massage. It is more a situation-appropriate use of our different resources, as daily life creates a phasic alternation of three states: ergotropic (spending energy), trophotropic (regaining energy), and homeotropic (keeping balance). Usually, psychotherapists focus on harmonious and social interactions, but things seem different in real life. Many people look for challenges and wild events or withdraw and peaceful immobility. This workshop will help you make more conscious choices and expand your palette of resources. Different techniques will be presented, not only with my clients (a lot of them with burn-out and anxiety issues) but personally too, as the profession of psychotherapy undoubtedly brings a heavy burden.
