GÜLİSTAN BAHAT
She works as a professor at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Geriatrics. She has been graduated from Hacettepe University Medical School, English Section in 1998. She completed her internal medicine education in 2004 and Geriatrics fellowship in 2009. She has been awarded as associate professor in 2012 and professor in 2018. She has been working in Istanbul Medical School since 1998. Her main research topics are, nutrition, sarcopenia, sarcopenic obesity, frailty, dysphagia, rational drug use in the older adults, treatment of hypertension, diabetes and osteoporosis in older adults. She has more than 175 articles published within the scope of Web of Science.
She took part in international consensus and position statements on rational drug use (IGRIMUP position statment paper) and sarcopenia (EWGSOP2) in older adults. She has attended many international and national scientific meetings as a guest speaker. She is the principal investigator of TIME Criteria (Turkey Elderly Inappropriate Drug Use Criteria) study which is created to improve medication use in older adults by the Rational Drug Use Study Group of Turkish Academic Geriatrics Society. She is member of EuGMS, ESPEN, Turkish Internal Medicine Society, Turkish Academic Geriatrics Society, KEPAN, Turkish Alzheimer’s Society.
