Chief Security Officer SMU Dallas, Texas, United States
Zero trust isn’t a product or a tool, it’s a cybersecurity strategy for helping focus your efforts to get the most out of the limited resources available. Higher education is one of those industries that has traditionally struggled with very limited resources, and the presenter will tell the behind-the-scene story of SMU's path to zero trust, starting from the network to identity, application security, and integrating this approach in the school's security operations center. This effort required a diverse group of partnerships, both inside IT as well as outside with Legal, Risk and HR. He will share his lessons learned from the decade-long journey and detail some of the mistakes that were made along the way.
