Senior Security & Risk Architect Avertium Phoenix, Arizona, United States
Litigating parties often must retain an expert witness to explain technical details to the attorneys, judge, and jury. An expert is knowledgeable and able to explain complex topics to people who don’t have that knowledge.
This presentation will describe how to broaden your career and become a technical expert who analyzes the evidence, produces a written report and an opinion as to what occurred, and testifies to that opinion. Testifying in court requires the ability to speak with clarity, confidence, and equanimity, particularly on cross-examination when attorneys try to create doubt about the accuracy of the expert's testimony.
This presentation will describe how to develop the skills needed to work with the attorneys who retain you and those who are adversarial.
Learning Objectives:
Know what an expert witness does and what an attorney looks for in an expert witness.
Learnwhat happens before and during court.
Understand what skills are needed and how to learn to develop those skills and build connections.
