Carsten Dierkes, Dr. Eng, has researched heavy metals in relation to stormwater for 20+ years, including University of Essen thesis work on the transport behavior of heavy metals in road runoff during stormwater infiltration. Dierkes was Secretary of the Working Group on Source Control for Stormwater Management of the International Water Association. As a member of a leading European technical authority (DIBt) certification committee, he has helped develop standards for treatment facilities for road runoff.
