Rebecca is a Teaching Assistant Professor with the University of Minnesota's Erosion and Stormwater Management Certification Program where she teaches in-person and online erosion and stormwater management courses to industry professionals. Prior to joining the Program staff, she spent more than 12 years as an environmental consultant specializing in National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) construction and industrial Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) design and inspection and in due diligence and environmental compliance investigation and reporting. She is interested in the impacts construction and industrial stormwater have on aquatic systems, and seeks to find ways to minimize turbid or contaminated runoff from leaving these sites.
Trained as a lake ecologist, Rebecca received her BS in biology from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX, her MS in biology from UMN - Duluth, and her PhD in Water Resources Science from UMN - Twin Cities. She is certified as a Senior Ecologist by the Ecological Society of America (ESA), is currently the president of the Minnesota Erosion Control Association (MECA), and she is a former Governor-appointed member of the Governor’s Committee to Advise the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.
