Leo Holm is a registered professional engineer. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, Department of Bio-systems and Agricultural Engineering; specializing in Soil and Water Conservation Engineering. Leo worked for 37 years at the Minnesota Department of Transportation and retired as a Section Director in 2006. Presently he serves on the University of Minnesota advisory board for the Department of Bio-Products and Bio-systems Engineering Erosion and Stormwater Management Certification Training.
He has authored and published several articles in Land and Water magazine including: “ Implementing the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan” “What’s With All the SWPPP Contractor Inspection Reports?”
He has worked with local and state officials and provided guidance and training for instituting Storm Water Management Certification training programs in six midwestern states. Presently he works with three states on their certification programs and is part of their certification teams.
He has received several awards over his career; including Outstanding Contributions to Environmental Protection Award by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, Outstanding Contributions to Education and Research In Erosion Control by the University of Minnesota, Outstanding contributions to protecting the environment by Mn Seeding Contractors Assn, Contributions to the Certification Training Program by MN/DOT Outstanding Contribution to the Storm Water and Erosion Control Industry of Wisconsin, by the North American Storm Water and Erosion Control Association, and Conservation Leadership Award by the Minnesota Erosion Control Association.
