Sustainability was embedded into core operations through investment in subcontractor relationships, adopting innovation, reducing energy, waste and water, and increasing materials reuse. The approach to sustainable ESC has set new benchmarks in regards to innovative products, adaption of existing products and providing platforms for subcontractors and suppliers to trial their products on site. These initiatives have been shared with TMR and both parent construction companies (Fulton Hogan and Seymour Whyte) to demonstrate how efficient and sustainable soil and water management techniques can provide sound commercial outcomes and optimise return to work timeframes. Both parent construction companies have recognised the projects sustainable and innovative approach to the management of ESC to be worthy of internal national awards to demonstrate how efficient soil and water management techniques can provide sound commercial and sustainable outcomes during both temporary and permanent works. The CR2SM project has been internally and externally recognised for setting a new benchmark for large scale civil transport infrastructure projects delivered in Queensland through both its innovations, people and collaborations. The project team have developed innovative and costeffective solutions to manage the ESC and land contamination risks - to treat sediment and manage the overall triple bottom line environmental/commercial/social/sustainable and reputational risk profile of the high-risk works throughout the project
