Director of Research and Development Applied Polymer Systems Woodstock, Michigan, United States
Applied Polymer Systems is the originator of Floc Log, Silt Stop, Silt Clear, and Pond Log products. APS leads the industry in anionic polyacrylamide products and has been used nation wide and in nearly 2 dozen countries since its founding in 1995. Applied Polymer System's products have maintained the same trusted quality and safety standards for decades, including NSF/ANSI/CAN Standard 60 drinking water certification, extensive toxicity analyses per EPA standards in third party laboratories, and consistent achievement of >90-95% turbidity removal. In an ever changing and evolving world and industry, APS continues to push forward with new research and technologies to find environmentally friendly solutions to water quality issues. We are excited to introduce the new BioBlend Floc Log that combines the safety and effectiveness of anionic PAM with the biodegradability and sustainable sourcing of plant based polymers. This presentation will introduce the BioBlend Floc Log line as well as educate attendees on our existing product line. In addition to sediment and erosion, Applied Polymer System's products target a number of water quality issues such as metals, nutrients, chlorine, and even high pH. Attendees of this presentation will learn about different polymer products, polymer forms, and how to select the appropriate polymer product to meet specific water quality and project goals.
Learning Objectives:
recognize new polymer based products and technologies and how they can be used in conjunction with other stormwater and E&SC BMPs to improve runoff water quality and clarity
identify different types of polymers (i.e. PAM, starch, chitosan, etc.) and differentiate between them in terms of basic properties
distinguish which types of polymers, polymer products, and polymer forms are best suited to meet project goals (i.e. soil stabilization vs. sediment removal/ water clarification vs. metal and nutrient removal, etc.)
