Dr. Nilson N. Mendes Neto, M.D., is a young physician-scientist from Brazil. In the last 6 years, he has conducted very important research about arboviruses in the northwest of Brazil, including Congenital Zika Syndrome (CZS) and its neurological complications. Because of the importance of his studies, he was awarded by Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) as the 2018 International Investigator Award. Due to the ongoing monkeypox outbreak, in the last months he is focusing on how this disease may spread throughout our society and how we can stop it. He is currently doing his Masters of Medical Sciences in Clinical Investigation at Harvard Medical School.
