Dr Pasqualotto graduated in Medicine in Brazil, and trained in internal medicine, infectious diseases, infection control and transplant infectious diseases. He did his PhD on invasive candidiasis, and his post-doc on Aspergillosis at the National Aspergillosis Centre in Manchester/UK. Pasqualotto is currently a Professor of Infectious Diseases at the Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre, Brazil. He is the chair of the Infectious Diseases Service at Santa Casa de Misericordia de Porto Alegre, a 1,200-bed teaching hospital. Pasqualotto has a MBA in Business Administration. At the moment, he is mostly interested in Histoplasmosis, and his group is planning a phase III trial to evaluate the efficacy of single high doses of liposomal amphotericin B in these patients.
