Alice Kim, MD, MBA brings a demonstrated history of excellence during her 25 years at Cleveland Clinic. She is a Staff Physician in the Infectious Disease Department and also serves as a physician leader through her administrative appointment in Cleveland Clinic Enterprise Medical and Regional Operations. As the Medical Director for Inpatient Care Coordination and Long-Term Acute Care Hospital Program she directs and implements process and practice improvement throughout the care continuum. Dr Kim currently serves as the operational lead for the newest Cleveland Clinic hospital build which is set to open in 2023. Dr. Kim works to advance enterprise initiatives through various groups including Hospital Operations Committee, Opioid Addiction/Infective Endocarditis Working Group, CoPAT Committee, and serves on the Alumni Board of Directors as the VP of Membership. As a member of the Board of Directors for Select Medical and Cleveland Clinic Joint Venture, Dr. Kim advances program development as well as operational excellence for seven partner hospitals. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine.
Most recently, Dr. Kim has been a leader in response to the COVID pandemic and Monkeypox health emergency. She served as a co-commander in Cleveland Clinic’s Enterprise Incident Management Team and also as the state of Ohio’s Zone 1 Deputy Commander and Clinical Leader for COVID efforts. She led the strategic response for the largest hospital systems to support skilled nursing facility testing, preparation and outbreak management as well as coordinate the response for hospital transfers, resource allocation and vaccination efforts with the Ohio Department of Health and Emergency Management Agency, local and regional hospitals, public health departments and community partners. Dr Kim served as co-Medical Director of the FEMA mass vaccination site in Cleveland, OH and received the Commendation Medal from the State of Ohio for her service.
In 2020, Dr. Alice Kim was recognized as a Cleveland Clinic COVID Hero, an individual recognition for her dedication to patient and caregiver safety during a time of crisis. And in 2022, she recieved the Cleveland Clinic Team Caregiver Award for leading the Enterprise COVID-19 Monoclonal Antibody Team.
Dr. Kim completed her Executive Master of Business Administration from Case Western Reserve Weatherhead School of Business in May 2021. She received her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University in 1997. She completed her internal medicine/pediatric residency and her Infectious Disease fellowship at Cleveland Clinic. She has been on staff at the Cleveland Clinic since 2003.
Dr. Kim currently serves as Chair for the Infectious Disease Society of America’s Clinical Affairs Committee.
