Emily Blumberg, MD is a Transplant Infectious Diseases specialist and the Director of the Transplant Infectious Diseases Program and the Infectious Diseases Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania since 2003. She is a Deputy Editor for the American Journal of Transplantation. A member of IDSA for over 3 decades, she served as the Chair of the Training Program Directors Committee from 2016-2019. She is a past President of the American Society of Transplantation (2019-2020) and a former Chair of the UNOS Disease Transmission and Advisory Committee and former Vice-Chair of the HHS Advisory Committee on Blood. Dr. Blumberg's academic interests are focused on infectious disease complications in transplant recipients and candidates. She is especially interested in donor derived infections and viral infections, including HIV, CMV, HCV and now COVID-19.
