Assistant Professor

I am an epidemiologist with research interests in pediatric infectious diseases, public health surveillance, vaccine effectiveness, and vaccine hesitancy. Much of my work has focused on the epidemiology of respiratory and gastrointestinal viruses in young children, the role of these viruses in pediatric emergency department use and hospitalization, and the post-licensure assessments of rotavirus and influenza vaccine effectiveness. My research interests have recently expanded to include the epidemiology of SARS-CoV-2 infection and multi-system inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) and parental vaccine hesitancy and concerns about vaccine safety. I am an active collaborator on multi-site assessments of pediatric COVID-19 and MIS-C conducted nationally as well as studies assessing the prevalence of vaccine hesitancy among parents of children in the Greater Houston area among parents of children with autism spectrum disorders.
I do not have any relevant financial / non-financial relationships with any proprietary interests.
