Bradley Allen (he/him) serves Indiana University School of Medicine as Senior Associate Dean for Medical Student Education and the D. Craig Brater Scholar in Professionalism, as well as Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine and Infectious Diseases. Brad is a native Iowan farmboy and did undergraduate at the University of Iowa. He stayed at Iowa for MD/PhD training with his doctoral work in Microbiology. He completed residency in Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where he also served as Chief Medical Resident and did postdoctoral training. Brad returned to the University of Iowa for fellowship training in ID before joining their faculty.
Dr. Allen joined IUSM’s Division of Infectious Diseases in 2000. He later became Chief of Medicine at the Roudebush VA Medical Center and then moved to the role of Vice Chairman for Education in the Department of Medicine prior to his current role. His duties include oversight and management of the curriculum and student support delivered throughout the statewide IUSM system. He is a co-PI on a HRSA grant to improve MD training in principles of primary care for the underserved in Indiana in addition to creating competency training in Health Equity, Advocacy, and Leadership. He also serves as the Medical Consultant for the Tuberculosis Control Program for the Indiana State Department of Health and practices general ID and HIV care at the Indianapolis VAMC. Brad is past Governor of the Indiana Chapter of the American College of Physicians. He is an avid bicyclist, Habitat for Humanity volunteer, and enjoys traveling with his wife Anne and family.
