Fellow, Infectious Diseases
Mayo Clinic
Rochester, Minnesota, United States
Dr. Ordaya is a second-year Infectious Diseases fellow at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He graduated from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru, and worked as a research fellow in Bartonellosis at Instituto de Medicina Tropical Alexander Von Humbodlt under the mentorship of Dr. Ciro Maguiña. Then, he performed formal training in Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine at Hospital Nacional Edgardo Rebagliati Martins where he worked as a staff physician after finishing training. Given a profound interest in infections in immunocompromised hosts, he performed a Transplant Infectious Diseases fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. There, he was fascinated by the available clinical and research opportunities in the U.S., so he started his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Minnesota where he was elected as a chief resident focused on EBM, and then came to Mayo Clinic to complete the last leg of his U.S. training.
Dr. Ordaya has a primary interest in infections in immunocompromised hosts, invasive fungal infections, and global health.
