Oskar Ekelund is a clinical microbiologist and an ID physician. He is the head of the Department of Clinical microbiology in Växjö, Sweden, which serves as the National Reference Center for Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testning. His institution also hosts the EUCAST Development Laboratory. Oskar's main areas of interest is AST of bacteria in general and in particular new rapid approaches to AST, such as flow cytometry or MALDI-TOF based techniques. He has since 2012 been a consultant to WHO EURO in the CAESAR project, focusing on lab capacity building and surveillance of AMR in Eastern Europe and Central Asian countries.
