Dr. Nelson Lee is a Professor in the Institute for Pandemics, Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, Canada. For almost 20 years, he has been working on respiratory virus infections including Coronaviruses (SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV, SARS-CoV2), Influenza Viruses (seasonal, pandemic, avian), Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and other Non-Influenza Respiratory Viruses (NIRV), severe viral pneumonia, and pandemics and epidemics caused by emerging viruses. A wide range of epidemiological, clinical and translational research have been conducted, including hospital and population-based epidemiological studies, outcome studies, virus transmission, clinical trials on antivirals and host-directed therapeutics, as well as virokinetics and host response. His research works put an emphasis on an interdisciplinary approach, and multicenter, international collaborations, with the goal to reduce the global impacts and develop effective countermeasures against such infections. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed research articles and 15 book chapters on these topics, including papers in the New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet journals, BMJ, CMAJ, Nature Communications, and many top-rated Infectious Diseases and Respiratory System journals (https://publons.com/researcher/1356876/nelson-lee/publications/).
