Dr. Vivian Leung is currently the Antimicrobial Consumption Expert at the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). Prior to joining ECDC in June 2022, Dr. Leung served as the Healthcare-Associated Infections & Antimicrobial Resistance Program (HAI-AR) Coordinator for the State of Connecticut, where she oversaw HAI and AR surveillance, response, and prevention activities at the Connecticut Department of Public Health, including during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A graduate of Rush Medical College, she completed residency in Family Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine. Then as a CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer assigned to Connecticut, she helped develop public health containment strategies for novel MDROs.
Dr. Leung's work involves improving public health surveillance systems, building partnerships in AMR surveillance and prevention, and utilizing data to inform public policy. In her spare time, she enjoys kayaking and learning Swedish with her partner and children.
