Ana Belén Araúz is an Infectious Diseases specialist who works in Hospital Santo Tomas, a third level public Hospital in Panama, as. She received her M.D. from Universidad de Panama and completed her internal medicine in Hospital Santo Tomás in Panama and infectious diseases training at Universidad de Guadalajara, Mexico. Has a Master in Science degree from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a Gorgas Diploma course in tropical medicine from University of Alabama.
She is currently an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine in Universidad de Panama, with research interests related to surveillance of mycotic infections in HIV and Candida auris infections in Panama and Stewardship Programs.
She is past president of the Panamanian Infectious Diseases Society and member of the Board of the Central America Chapter of the American College of Physicians. She was International Ambassador of SHEA in 2017.
