Dr. Abinash Virk is a Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science and a Consultant in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Rochester, Minnesota since 1997. Currently, she serves as the physician Chair of the Mayo Clinic Enterprise Antimicrobial Stewardship Program and the Chair of Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy Program at Mayo Clinic Rochester. Dr. Virk co-led the Mayo Clinic’s COVID-19 Vaccine Allocation and Distribution Workgroup in addition to other COVID-19 pandemic related activities. Previously, she had numerous leadership roles within the ID Division. She founded the Mayo Clinic Midwest Fellows Forum which is ongoing since 2004 and in 2015 she founded and has since co-directed the “Annual Infectious Diseases Practice Updates” as a Continuing Medical Education course for the practicing ID providers. Dr. Virk is a recipient of numerous accolades for her teaching at Mayo Clinic. She has numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters related to her areas of interest, specifically antimicrobial stewardship, COVID-19 vaccines, orthopedic Infectious Diseases and travel and tropical Medicine.
