I am an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Divisions of Infectious Diseases & Global Public Health and Geriatrics, Gerontology & Palliative Care at the University of California San Diego. My roles include caring for a steadily aging population of people living with HIV. I also participate in clinical, translational and implementation science HIV research at the AntViral Research Center and through the San Diego Center For AIDS Research (CFAR). Leadership and administrative roles include serving as the Co-Director of the CFAR Clinical Investigation Core and am actively involved in the AIDS Clinical Trials Group as the Vice Chair of the Underrepresented Populations Committee and a Co-Chair of the HIV and Aging Working Group. I view myself as a "bedside to bench" researcher, as I'm mostly interested in research questions that arises from gaps in care including whole person approaches to pain management in older people living wtih HIV, interventions to mitigate loneliness, and bundled interventions to combat intersectional health inequtiy for women.
