Dr. Bob Bollinger, MD, MPH is the Raj and Kamla Gupta Professor of Infectious Diseases at the Johns Hopkins University (JHU) School of Medicine, and he holds joint appointments in International Health at the Johns Hopkins (JH) Bloomberg School of Public Health, and in Community Public Health at the JH School of Nursing. He is Founding Director of the JH Center for Clinical Global Health Education (CCGHE) and Associate Director for Medicine of the JH Center for Global Health. Dr. Bollinger has been on the faculty at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine for 30 years, where he has been an educator, researcher and clinician. He has more than 40 years of experience in clinical and epidemiologic infectious diseases research and education in many countries including India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia, in a broad range of global health priorities. He has mentored many early stage investigaors (ESI) including JH Infectious Diseases Post-doctoral Fellows and junior faculty, as well as investigators in India and Uganda. Dr. Bollinger’s commitment to education earned him the Johns Hopkins Department of Medicine David M. Levine Excellence in Mentoring Award, He is is author of more than 220 peer-reviewed research publications and 15 book chapters. He has served as a member of the NIH Fogarty International Center Advisory Board. He also served as the JHU PI for the Medical Education Partnership Initiative (MEPI) programs in Uganda and Ethiopia. Under his 26 years as leader of the Hopkins India Fogarty International Research Training Program, more than 140 visiting Indian scientists received professional and graduate degree training at JHU. The Hopkins India Fogarty program also provided in-country training to more than 2,000 Indian scientists. Currently, Dr. Bollinger leads the JHUBI Clinical Trials Unit Training and Mentorship Committee, currently supporting 8 ESI in India. He is also currently providing mentorship and research training to 6 Ugandan ESI through the Fogarty Training Program at the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) in Kampala.
