Dr. Ravi Jhaveri attended Boston University as an undergraduate and Mount Sinai School of Medicine for medical school. He subsequently completed his residency training in General Pediatrics at the University of Chicago Hospitals and a fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Mattel Children’s Hospital at UCLA. After having served on the faculty at both Duke and UNC, in October 2018 Dr. Jhaveri became Associate Division Head for Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago and Professor of Pediatrics at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. In December of 2020, he was named Interim Division Head and transitioned to the permanent Division Head role in January 2022.
Dr. Jhaveri’s research has largely focused on Hepatitis C virus pathogenesis. He is currently in translational studies into the mechanisms and circumstances surrounding mother to infant transmission of HCV. Dr. Jhaveri is also involved in the clinical aspects of children infected with HCV, from evaluation and treatment to studies of long-term outcomes. He currently serves on the AASLD/IDSA HCV Guidelines Panel. He also conducts research on manifestations of PASC in children, vaccination of immunocompromised hosts and other pediatric infectious diseases topics. Dr. Jhaveri is a Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and currently serves as Chair of the IDSA Standards and Practice Guidelines committee and Vice-Chair of the IDSA Leadership Institute working group. He is a Fellow of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society and served on the PIDS Board of Directors from 2015-2019. He has served as PIDS Chair on the 2015 IDWeek planning committee.
He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society and is former Co-Editor-in-Chief for the journal Clinical Therapeutics.
