Dimitrios P. Kontoyiannis is the Robert C Hickey Chair in Clinical Care and Deputy Head, Division of Internal Medicine and Professor in the Division of Internal Medicine at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. Dr. Kontoyiannis has authored over 640 peer-reviewed manuscripts and has given over 350 lectures in national/ international conferences and academic institutions. He is considered the leading mycology expert world-wide (expertscape.com) with an H index of 120 and over 60000 citations. His research group is credited for many and sustained contributions to clinical, translational and experimental mycology. He is the past president elect of Immunocompromised Host Society (2016-2018) and the recipient of many national and international awards and memberships in honorary medical and scientific societies. He is the leader of the European Confederation of Medical Mycology (ECMM) Diamond Excellence in Mycology Center at MD Anderson Cancer Center, the only US center to receive such designation by ECMM.
