Kevin B. Spicer, MD, PhD, MPH is a Medical Officer with the Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He has been a field assignee at the Kentucky Department for Public Health in the Healthcare-Associated Infection/Antibiotic Resistance Prevention Program since 2017. Dr. Spicer received his MD at the University of Kentucky and completed a residency in Pediatrics and a fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Nationwide Children's Hospital and The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Spicer has worked as a rural general pediatrician and an academic clinical scholar, and worked for three years in South Africa focusing on pediatric HIV and TB, as well as infection prevention and control and antibiotic stewardship. Dr. Spicer has published work related to TB, HIV, HAI surveillance and prevention in limited-resource settings, and COVID-19. Dr. Spicer is currently a member of the Prevention and Response Branch HAI Outbreak Response Team at CDC.
