The experience necessary to carry out the proposed studies began to develop while studying the diploma of Welfare of Animals used in Scientific Research. My research training began with the Master in Medicine, Health and Animal Care, and then wtih doctoral program in Biotechnology at the University of Barcelona
I am currently responsible for animal studies in the area of prophylactic development of the bacteriology department of Naval Medical Research Unit Six (NAMRU-6). Although my position is recent, I have participated as co-PI in different studies with Non-Human Primates (NHP) as an animal model for traveler's diarrhea. We evaluate potential vaccine candidates as active prophylactic treatment, against ETEC, Shigella spp., and Campylobacter jejuni in Aotus nancymaae as an animal model against these diseases.
