Jonathan Golob MD PhD is a physician-scientist and Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan. He has a unique combination of skills (biomedical and computer engineering; clinical infectious disease; stem cell biology; data science) that facilitate a multi-disciplinary approach to understanding how host-microbe interactions within the gut affect health, disease, and response to treatments. His laboratory has developed a human organoid-based in vitro model of host-microbe interactions within the gut that is complementary to murine in vivo models. He also develops and validates novel approaches for the harmonization of microbiome data, including integration of 16S rRNA gene based studies with whole genome shotgun based studies, as well as gene-oriented metagenomics.
