Anna van Boekel is an internal medicine resident and PhD candidate at the Leiden University Medical Center. She is interested in antibiotic stewardship with the help of prediction modelling and artificial intelligence, with the main focus on post-operative patients and intensive care patients. In her research she works together with data scientist and physicians. With this collaboration she hopes to develop tools which are able to make accurate predictions and are easy to use in clinical practice for physicians so the will have actual impact on the antibiotic prescribing behaviour of physicians and thereby help to reduce unnecessary (broad) antibiotic therapy.
