Dr. Kinna Thakarar is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Maine Medical Center/Tufts University School of Medicine in Portland, Maine. She is board-certified in internal medicine, infectious diseases, and addiction medicine and has a special interest in health services research related to the ID/ substance use disorder syndemic. Dr. Thakarar is currently an affiliated investigator at the Center for Interdisciplinary Population and Health Research and founder of the Bridge (integrated HIV/hepatitis and substance use) program at the Gilman Clinic in Portland, Maine. She is currrently co-leading a SAMHSA funded harm reduction grant, Project DHARMA (Distribution of Harm Reduction Access in Rural Maine Areas), working closely with syringe service programs and community organizations throughout the state of Maine.
