Dr. Byers graduated from Temple University School of Medicine in 1991. She stayed on at Temple University Hospital for her Internal Medicine residency and completed her Infectious Diseases fellowship at the Univeristy of Virginia, where she also completed a Master's degree in Epidemiology. She has been on the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center since 2001, where she is a Professor of Medicine and Neurosurgery. She is the Associate Chief of Clinical Care for the Division of Infectious. Her major clinical intersts include neurosurgical infections and viral respiratory infections.
