I am a Química Biológica and the Laboratory Director at Unviersity of Colorado Unviersity-affiliated Centro de Desarollo Human, located in Retalhuleu and about 30km from the border with Chiapas Mexico. At CDH we are carrying out several cohort studies, evaluating the impact of emerging infectious diseases on vulnerable popualtions and evaluating interventions to reduce their burden. Our laboratory carries out a wide variety of testing, including traditional/POC PCR (Roche cobas Liat system), mutliplex PCR (BioFire FilmArray system), and sequencing (Minion platform). We are also a training site for QBs, especially those interested in molecular diagnositcs, and I would like to expand this trainig in the future.
