Nusrat J. Epsi, PhD is a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Infectious Disease Clinical Research Program (IDCRP) of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) at the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF). Her work is to design and execute clinical research projects to improve the health of service members and beneficiaries, support advancement in clinical care throughout the Military Heath Systems (MHS). Prior to that she received her Ph.D. from Rutgers University in Biomedical Informatics. During her doctoral studies, she incorporated her analytical and statistical skills and developed a computational algorithm which incorporated transcriptomic and epigenomic patient profiles to unveil molecular pathways that govern chemoresistance in lung adenocarcinoma. This algorithm also identified treatment-response biomarkers in other types of lung cancer and colon cancer. This work has been published in Nature Communication Biology, along with that she secured multiple research publications. Additionally, Nusrat is a recipient of the prestigious Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC) Student scholarship, Katrina Kehlet Graduate Award from NJ HIMSS (The New Jersey chapter of Healthcare Information Management Systems Society), and Rutgers CINJ The Gallo award for Scientific Excellence in Cancer Research. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Nusrat thought data could be a powerful tool to fight against COVID-19. Therefore, she joined IDCRP at HJF as a post-doctoral fellow in 2020 and has applied her computational and statistical skills to various COVID-19 research projects.
