Dr Keshtkar-Jahromi is an an epidemiologist and infectious diseases specialist, is an expert on viral hemorrhagic fevers with a focus on epidemiology of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV). Her interest in this field stared since 1999 when she collabortaed with a team of epidemilogists and experts in diagnosing the first human case in Iran. This effort has led to an estblished surveillance system within counrty reporting hundreds of cases annually. She has led a team of scientists working on mapping this infetion in Middle east, Africa, and Asia. She is planning to establish a surveillance system for this infection in collaboration with local partners and public health authorities.
She has also acted as principle Investigator for multiple phase 2 and 3 trials on Influenza vaccine, Rift Valley, Yellow fever, Tularemia, and Eastern/Western/Venezuelan encephalitis virus since 2007. She has worked as an assistant professor at the Johns Hopkins University since 2015 and as a medical officer as the National Institute of Health since 2020 where she has exercised her expertise in designing and implementing phases 1, 2 and 3 clinical trials to develop vaccine against Anthrax, Lassa, Marburg, Nipah, Chikungunya, encephalitis viruses and most recently SARS-CoV-2.
This poster presentation is part of team effort in mapping CCHFV in Asia. This work has gone beyond published data and includes unpublished data and information obtained by personal communications.
