Dr. Hana Hakim is an Associate Member in the department of Infectious Diseases and the Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Dr. Hakim received her MD degree from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon, and completed her pediatric residency at the Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, NY. Dr. Hakim completed her Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital / LeBonheur Children’s Medical Center at the University of Tennessee, followed by another fellowship training program in pediatric HIV/AIDS. During her fellowship, she also completed a Master of Science degree in Epidemiology from the University of Tennessee, College of Graduate Health Sciences. After completing training, she joined the infectious diseases faculty at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
In addition to leading the Infection Prevention and Control program and providing clinical management of infections in children with cancer, her interests focused on clinical research related to epidemiology and prediction of fever and neutropenia outcomes, immunogenicity and safety of influenza vaccine, and prevention of infections in pediatric oncology patients.
