Dr. Cody Chastain is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Loma Linda, CA, where he received multiple awards upon graduation including the Chancellor’s Award. He then completed his training in Internal Medicine at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC; while at Duke, he was awarded the Haskel Schiff award by his peers for excellence in clinical medicine. After working as a hospitalist for Duke University Health Systems, Dr. Chastain completed subspecialty training in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he subsequently joined faculty. Dr. Chastain leads the division’s Viral Hepatitis Program, and he cares for people with HIV in the inpatient and outpatient setting. He actively collaborates in research focusing on HIV and viral hepatitis clinical outcomes. Dr. Chastain is an active educator in undergraduate, graduate, and continuing medical education and has received multiple teaching awards, including the Bonnie M. Miller Award for Excellent in Teaching, the Hugh J. Morgan Teaching Award, and the William Schaffner Teaching Award. He serves as the Director for Evaluation and Assessment in the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and as the Principal Investigator for the Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center.
