Dr. Anmary Fernandez graduated, Summa Cum Laude, from the Pontifical Catholic University “Madre y Maestra” School of Medicine, in Santiago, Dominican Republic. Dr. Fernandez moved to Chicago to pursue her Internal Medicine residency at Presence Saint Joseph Hospital/University of Illinois. During her residency, she earned the Jerome F. Strauss, Jr., M.D. Award for the outstanding teaching of residents in the Department of Internal Medicine Program. Dr. Fernandez was accepted by the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital to train as an Infectious Diseases fellow. During her fellowship she served as Chief Infectious Disease Fellow for a year and she was the recipient of the 2020 Best Infectious Disease Fellow award. She completed the Transplant Infectious Disease Fellowship in June 2021 and joined Infectious Disease Associates of Tampa Bay.
Dr. Fernandez is board certified in Internal Medicine, Board Eligible in Infectious Diseases and holds a Florida and Illinois State Medical Licenses. She is a member of several professional organizations including the American College of Physicians, the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the American Society of Transplantation. She has served in many practice improvement committees during her residency and given several presentations at national meetings. In addition to English, Dr. Fernandez native language is Spanish.
Dr. Fernandez joined the Tampa General Hospital Transplant Infectious Disease Team and the collaborative faculty at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine.
