Samuel W.M. Gatesy, MS is a senior research technologist in the laboratories of Drs. Kelly Bachta and Egon Ozer at Northwestern University.
His research interests lie in mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance in bacteria. Currently he is using transposon insertion sequencing to identify novel mechanisms of colistin resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. In a second project, he is leading synergistic antimicrobial resistance testing and whole-genome sequencing of a multi-drug resistant Enterococcus faecium clinical isolate.
Samuel graduated with a Master of Clinical Laboratory Science from Michigan State University in 2017.
