Andrew Handel is an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Stony Brook Children's Hospital on Long Island, New York. He attended medical school at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York, and completed his Pediatrics Residency and Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Stony Brook Children's Hospital. He serves as the Supplement Editor of the Journal of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society (JPIDS). He was a Guest Editor of the JPIDS supplement entitled, "Next-Generation Sequencing: A Primer on the Technology & Its Pediatric Infectious Disease Applications." Research focuses have included metagenomic sequencing, tickborne diseases, and COVID-19 vaccines.
