Susan Huang, MD MPH is Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of California Irvine (UCI) School of Medicine, and Medical Director of Epidemiology and Infection Prevention at UCI Health. For the past 20 years, she has studied the clinical epidemiology of multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs), including healthcare burden, risk factors for acquisition and disease, and preventative strategies for containment. Dr. Huang has led several large randomized clinical trials involving decolonization to prevent MDRO disease and other healthcare-associated infections across the continuum of care. She also studies regional prevention of MDROs in hospitals and nursing homes through epidemiologic and intervention studies, as well as simulation models.
