Dr. Liana Andronescu supports the Infectious Disease Clinical Research Program (IDCRP) as a Postdoctoral Fellow at The Henry Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine. She researches the epidemiology of COVID-19, including topics like vaccine efficacy, methods for surveillance, and persistent symptoms post-infection. Liana completed her PhD in 2021 at the University of Maryland Baltimore where she studied the epidemiology of Plasmodium falciparum infection in infants in Malawi. As an Allan Rosenfield Global Public Health Fellow with the Association for Schools and Programs of Public Health and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) between 2014 and 2016, Liana supported HIV surveillance in the Strategic Information Branch at the CDC offices in Uganda and Zambia. There she analyzed survey data from studies of key populations, conducted site visits, and provided data support for operations planning. Her Master’s thesis on the seasonal patterns of acute respiratory infections across Mexico was completed at The George Washington University in 2013. Liana was a Senior Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton from 2009 to 2013, where she supported clients at the Department of Homeland Security and the National Children’s Study at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. Liana earned her BA in International Affairs, with concentrations in international development and global public health, from The George Washington University in 2009.
