Dr. Cortés-Penfield is an assistant professor in Infectious Diseases at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), where he spends the majority of his clinical time on the inpatient Orthopedic ID service, runs a dedicated Ortho ID clinic, and also serves as the medical director of UNMC's Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy program. Beyond musculoskeletal infections, Dr. Cortés-Penfield other academic interests include clinical ethics, medical education, and social media as a tool for education and collaboration within the ID profession. He is a cofounder of the global ID twitter journal club, @IDJClub.
