Sotirios Tsiodras is a Professor of Medicine and Infectious Diseases at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School. He is the President of the Infectious Diseases Society of Greece. He completed post graduate training at Harvard Medical School in the USA and he is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Professor Tsiodras also holds a master's degree in the Medical Sciences from Harvard Medical School and was a recipient of the Clinical Investigator Training Program fellowship conducted by Harvard Medical School and the MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology both in Boston, MA. He has a PhD in Medicine from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School. He is a member of the European CDC Advisory Forum since 2009 and an Infectious Diseases Society of America fellow; he also serves as a board member of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Study Group for Respiratory viruses. He has published more than 320 peer-reviewed papers and his work has so far received more than 16 000 citations from international journals. One of his recent papers in Nature with regards to machine learning and border control during the pandemic was praised as one of the best examples of using data in the fight against COVID-19. He has delivered more than 500 national and international talks on Infectious diseases related issues. He is a member of the national immunization committee and the chair of the National committee of experts on Public Health. He is additionally a member of the National committee for the pandemic response in Greece, a strategic advisor to the Greek government and a member of the EU scientific advice platform on COVID-19. He is currently doing clinical and research work in internal medicine and infectious diseases at the Attikon University Hospital and the National & Kapodistrian Athens University Medical School in Athens, Greece.
