Dr. Christine Johnston is an Associate Professor in the Division of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine at University of Washington. She received her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Brown University and her medical degree from University of Minnesota. She completed internal medicine residency and infectious diseases fellowship at University of Washington. She is a physician-scientist who studies the natural history of chronic viral sexually transmitted infections, with a focus on herpes simplex virus. She has conducted clinical trials of novel vaccines and antivirals to prevent and treat HSV infection, and more recently has conducted trials to prevent and treat SARS-CoV-2. In addition, she is the Medical Director of the University of Washington STD Prevention Training Center, which is part of the CDC-funded National Network of STD Clinical Prevention Training Centers (NNPTC) and the Associate Program Director of the UW ID Fellowship Training Program.
