Dr. Shimrit Keddem is Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Pennsylvania and a core investigator at the Veterans Affairs (VA) Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion at the Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center. She is a health services researcher and educator with a background in social welfare and public health. Through her research, Dr. Keddem seeks to improve healthcare programming especially for vulnerable and disadvantaged populations. Her work in health services research has focused on system-level assessments and patient experiences of primary care and patient-centered care both within and outside Veterans Health Administration. Her work in women’s health has focused on the relationship between social-ecological factors and health outcomes for women veterans and non-veterans. Dr. Keddem has expertise in qualitative, quantitative and geographic methods. Throughout her research career, she has worked in collaboration with colleagues from multiple disciplines. She has used a variety of mixed methods techniques to explore various public health and health services topics.
